The first volume, Pride's Children: PURGATORY, was named Indies Today 2021 Best Contemporary novel; the second, NETHERWORLD, will be published as soon as I get all the ducklings in the same row. JDM - in the form of all the Travis McGee novels - has been one of my writing mentors, and an interesting way to learn how certain men think. Huge debt there.

The third volume, LIMBO, should take the better part of the next five years.

Pride's Children has a disabled main character (of the three), a reclusive former physician who finds out to her surprise she's not dead yet.

Set in the worldwide intersection between the world of film and the world of writers, it asks who gets to decide and why does it matter?

Thanks for asking. PURGATORY has 51 reviews on Amazon - more elsewhere - most of them good (I especially love the long ones from older men).

I tell readers to check out the online Look Inside! and reviews, and then to ask me for an electronic ARC if they think they might CONSIDER writing a review (I don't nag).ABEhrhardthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17211038591900883672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-354043779169665167.post-62613109410937333382022-08-07T10:58:36.930-06:002022-08-07T10:58:36.930-06:00Invisible is a bad place to be. I haven't read or even heard of the Andy Kaiser book. I'll look it up. Koontz's work in the 1980s is really wonderful. Lightning is my favorite, but I enjoyed pretty much everything he wrote from the late-1970s to the early-1990s. His early suspense novels, especially Chase and After the Last Race are really good, too. I have several of his early-science fiction novels -- the Ace Doubles and some others -- but I haven't actually read many of them. If I had a wish, it would be that Koontz would issue a collection of his short stories. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd buy it.Ben Bouldenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16024782701164448300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-354043779169665167.post-38746161749202669982022-07-03T20:17:43.194-06:002022-07-03T20:17:43.194-06:00I haven't read Anthony Price, either and I'...I haven't read Anthony Price, either and I'm pretty sure I don't have a single book by him in the home archives. I...Can't remember if I read this Koontz or not. I loved him back in the day..... Strangers, Watchers, Lightning. I tired of him soon after as he dialed down on the originality and just seemed to be rehashing his earlier books. I used to use a book search guy in Kaukauna who used to find me his early stuff and post it to the UK. Ace Books and double novels - like Beastchild and Anti-Man, They weren't that great but I wish I had kept them. On a sidenote favourite - carni/circus novel - does Bradbury's Something Wicked this Way Comes count? I found Higgins's when I was 14 and I dug in and found most of his pseudonyms, too. I loved finding the Gold Medal titles and I can still remember reading The Keys of Hell with that cool cover art by Gordon Johnson (I think) with Paul Chavasse clutching a chest wound and the heroine sighting down the barrel of a pistol. I haven't read nearly enough of Adam Hall's Quiller books, but I pick them up in paperback any time I see one.

By the way, I liked your "Wolf" books published by Leisure Books back in the day. I miss Leisure and I thought (and still do) Leisure's horror line in the late-1990s to the mid-2000s was the best in the business.

Thanks for reading the post and commenting.Ben Bouldenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16024782701164448300noreply@blogger.com
